And a good evening to you!

I know I only posted last night but want to get into the habit of being more frequent. Just thought I'd have a little chat about the past couple of days and how I've been preparing for the big move. Nervous doesn't even come close.

Well my room is full of boxes and odds and ends that haven't seen the light of day for years. Most of my essentials are packed so just the last little bits like make up and clothes from the current washing cycle. I have all my kitchen supplies and duvet covers safely stowed away in stacker boxes awaiting the voyage. I am not looking forward to transporting everything i can tell you that! 

But anyway, today my mum decided we should go for lunch together. This is a rare occasion I can tell you but everyones making the most of my company before I leave. We went down the local bistro for a spot of lunch. It was a muggy old day but that didn't stop me indulging in a lovely humous and roasted vegetable baguette with salad and chunky chips. The summery flavours warmed up this otherwise sleepy grey day! 

It's finally starting to dawn on me, the massiveness of it all. I find myself pacing a lot this week, I think it is the waiting subconsciously reminding me what's going on. Obviously I'm nervous but more because of the uncertainty of it all rather than the meeting people and exploring. I think I'm just desperate to get going..

Wow, long time no see?! 

Well I am here and back with some more content. As you are all fully aware I am awaiting my departure for University and the days are melting away at an alarming rate! As I will be leaving on Saturday, my family decided to have a leaving dinner for me and my Human as we are going together.

We had a Sunday lunch style meal ( obviously because it was a Sunday..) with my parents, siblings, uncle, grandparents, and step relations. The table was massive!  I received a few gifts of cookbooks, snacks and obviously a bottle for freshers week (apple sour is apple ways Apple ways hit with me ;) ). It was lovely to have all the family together and having one last party before I leave.

 Being a veggie, I passed on the beef and went straight for the vegetable lasagne option which was absolutely delicious. I was hoping for something a little more warming but this actually hit the spot. It was served with roasted vegetables and a side salad.

And as I was tucking into my herbivorous meal I decided to snap a pic of my Human's meal too, a delicious salmon dish which also smelt divine.

Now, it'd be just plain boring to not have dessert wouldn't it? And as great minds think alike, we decided to both have the chocolate brownie, with ice cream, a digestive crumble with raspberries and coulis with chocolate sauce. Just ahhhhh!

Oh I feel like a food blogger today hehe! But anyway our leaving meal was absolutely delicious and I would like to thank my lovely mum and step dad for oganising everything. And especially for the MASSIVE cake they brought for us, it was so sweet and I wasn't expecting such a fuss for my send off. Soft and spongy chocolate cake!

Hehe, this was a very foody style one but let me know if this kind of post is a breath of fresh air from the usual and I'll try and share some more tasty experiences. I will be updating a lot more frequent this next couple of weeks as this is when the ball gets rolling! I'm so nervous about leaving but I will talk about packing and what I'm taking soon. Let's just say it is really starting to become real..

Hey there my lovelies, long time no see?

Thought I'd burst back onto my little blog of oddities with my long awaited, new Sketchbook Sneakpeek! I have been saying I will do one and it's nearly finished so why not? (Doubt it'll be done before I start with all my uni and moving posts so seizing the moment now ;) ) I know it isn't perfect and I'm not including all of it as usual but why not a little taste? 

So my uni course asked me to complete a summer project to bring with me when I start the course. I had a list of things I needed to include and needed photos and my own recordings of the work I saw in the galleries I visited. True to routine, I created a small A5 sketchbook to compile my findings and work in. Here's the part where I show you a few of the best pages from my masterpiece  ( I wish!)

As you know, I explored some galleries in Birmingham, England to search of work. So, obviously a title page is required..

I then recorded and wrote about the first gallery, Birmingham Museum and Gallery, and the work I found interesting and connected with.

I did a lot less drawing for this gallery but again I have collected plenty of information about the artists and the work I found particularly engaging. Padded out with more information, this is then followed by a few studies I have done on the works I observed. They are only rough and quick, as they are more impressions of the work than photo realistic masterpieces! 

But yeah, there we go. This is simply my way of compiling what I need into an organised understandable format for myself and possibly others. As I get closer to completion I worry it isn't what my course leader will be after but at the same time I am mega excited to get started with my degree work! ( Yep, it's still scary to say that :D) This is just one of the the steps to the quickly approaching date of my new beginning as a student. I'll be sure to keep you up to date with the moving and organising side of things gs as well as my feelings (eww, feelings) and thoughts on the big change in my life.

Well good morning everyone!

I know it's rare that I ever write in the morning but with some stuff to share and a day off work I'm going to make the most of it and talk about my experience at a country show yesterday. As I live in such a rural area this isn't something new for me and I've attended quite a few in my time, but with the weather being so glorious I couldn't not share a snap or two with you.

Away from the obvious horse, sheep and dog showing, shearing, birds of prey display and dog agility there stood a large white tent. This contained the craft, baking and homegrown produce. My heaven! I decided after reading the program that I wanted to enter something myself because when I go to uni I doubt I'll have the time. I decided to enter the 'Best painting of a butterly' section with one of my best efforts (just to be clear I literally never paint butterflies but this was the only painting catagory). When it comes to looking at the entries you never realise how many talented people there are around you. 

There was gorgeous quilting and knitting, Welsh love spoon carvings, photography. And the baking table looked to die for. I really think it is so important for people to enter these kinds of smaller competitions because if your talent is quilting, then hell you can show it off. I know it isn't gallery style work but I just loved looking at all of the work and effort that went into producing all of the crafts and cookery that was around me. There was a real sense of community with so many entries and so much time spent on them. Sorry I'm waffling!

Anyway, I came second in my catagory of three entries so that wasn't bad ;D.

Obviously I didn't stay in the tent the whole time though, that'd be a waste of sunshine! I did take a look at the sheep awsell but they didn't seem too glad to see me..

Also tried some more abstract shots of the day but not too sure how it came out. (I'll spare you the rest of them ;) )

Also, we showed one of our dogs and she managed to get 2nd place, needless to say we were proud of her too! 

But it's fair to say we had a lovely day in the extremely rare, blazing sunshine. It's easy to forget the interesting things around you, like the varieties of sheep, or the vast collection of local pooches, or the birds of prey that are present in the skies without us noticing or the craftsmen and women sometimes going unnoticed. It was a beautiful display of community and I hope I will be able to find this when I move! That's it for now and I hope you liked my little adventure. See you soon!

Hello there, told you I'd be back soon didn't I?

I just thought I'd pour out my brain a little because this is my blog afterall ;). So first, maybe I should start with my title. It's got to the point now when I am actually only a month or so from moving to University (34 days but you know..). I know it is still quite a while before I am packing up and leaving my family household but I think it is finally beginning to dawn on me, the whole reality of it all. I might just be being dramatic and it's nothing at all but I think it is what is stressing me out right now.

Don't worry, this isn't going to be a gloomy post or anything. I just wanted to document as much of my Uni experience as possible and this pre moving apprehension is definitely part of the experience. I think I feel like I'm inexperienced in the whole managing on my own thing, that's why this stress is bubbling under the surface. I think my main worries are that I'll run put of money, or not make many friends and coop myself up in my room or get scurvy from too many pot noodles or something.. I'm hoping that the sooner the time comes this nervous feeling is going to turn into excitement, I am choosing to do this for my career afterall. I expect once I'm packing boxes and buying essentials like duvet covers and soft fluffy towels that this fear of being on my own will subside.

I'm lucky enough to be going to university with my human so I obviously won't be alone when I get there. It's more the fact I live in a busy household and will miss the hustle and bustle of this kind of atmosphere. I think it is going to take some adjustment but who knows for now.

I've had one of those doing nothing and staying in bed kind of days between some pretty busy work days, so I think I've had some time to over analyse the situation if you get me. I know this isn't a very interesting post but again it's documenting isn't it ;). I am getting excited about the sense of freedom that's going to come with moving out though. Because of my age I don't have many rules to abide by and have a very free roaming home but I think with the cooking, studying and going out whenever I like is going to be exciting. Not worrying about waking my family up if I come home late, not having to keep my room a certain way, managing my money and things like that. In fact I'm making myself more and more excited as I right this ;).

Wow I'm babbling on a bit tonight aren't I? ;D But yes I just wanted to be a bit more regular in my updates so this is a little food for thought. Goodnight x

Why hello there, long time no see?

This is where I apologise for my absence and promise to be more predictable in future, am I right? I said that last time and it's getting a little old.. ;) Right, I think I'd better get on with it now.

Since going to Birmingham I have been cracking on with my summer project sketchbook ( preview on the way, just making my final adjustments I promise! ) and work, work, work, working. Exciting I know, but with roughly 4 weeks to go before I move to Uni I really need to get saving my pennies. I've heard many a pot noodle-no money horror story and I want to survive for at least the first week before I recieve my loan. Though the weather isn't very motivating, I'd rather be out in the glorious sunshine we've been graced with lately!

Also I partook in a little escape with my human to the coast for the day, it definitely blew the cobwebs out and made room for some thinking time and space. Snapped a few photos whilst there too but nothing award winning as we were relaxing and messing about most of the day. We went to Starbucks too, hence the header! I had an Iced Shaken Blackberry Mojito Tea Lemonade and I must say it was absolutely delicious! It was so refreshing after a walk in the ocean air and browse of the shops so if you get the chance, have one!

I haven't been particulary interesting the past week or two, but no ones life is jam packed with bloggable activities is it? (But i guess it depends on what kind of blog it is afterall! ) But I though a little catch up was in order for now. I'm making the most out of summer at the moment and trying not to worry about the massive upheaval on the horizon. I'll be back with either an update or some content (Summer Project!!!! ) very soon and I hope you are all enjoying the summer break as well as the weather.
